Kyle Busch will get a jump start on his 2019 racing season by strapping into a Super Late Model for one of the marquee early season events. Busch, the 2015 NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series champion, has filed an entry to compete in CRA SpeedFest 2019 at Crisp Motorsports Park (GA) on Saturday, January 26.
Busch will pilot the No. 51 Mobil1 Camry for Kyle Busch Motorsports during the ARCA/CRA Super Series (Super Late Models) portion of the event.
“The past few years before the start of the Cup Series season I’ve picked a Super Late Model race to enter in order to shake off the rust off before I head to Daytona and this year that event will be SpeedFest at Crisp Motorsports Park in Cordele, Georgia,” Busch told Speed51.com.
In recent years, Busch has collected a handful of major Super Late Model victories including the Snowball Derby and Winter Showdown. Each year, he looks forward to going up against the top short track racers in the world at events all over North America.
This year, he’s excited to once again test his mettle against what should be a stout field of Super Late Model drivers at SpeedFest.
“SpeedFest attracts some of the top veteran Super Late Model drivers like Bubba Pollard, Jeff Choquette and Casey Roderick and then when you mix in up-and-comers like Harrison Burton and Chandler Smith and put everyone on a challenging 3/8-mile, high-speed short track it makes for a great show,” Busch stated. “Not only is it exciting for the fans in attendance, but fans that have been hungry for some good racing all winter and can’t make it out to the track can watch it live via pay per view on Speed51.com like I have the last few years.”
Busch has competed in the ARCA/CRA Super Series portion of SpeedFest on five separate occasions since 2008. His resume at the event includes three wins, two at Lanier National Speedway (GA) and one at Crisp Motorsports Park. However, an early exit during his last attempt in 2016 has him hungry for another victory.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to win the event both at Lanier National Speedway, and at the current location, Crisp Motorsports Park,” he said. “We had a rough go of it the last time we were down there in Cordele in 2016. Hopefully we can redeem ourselves from that and add another marquee win to the KBM Super Late Model resume.”
In addition to watching Busch compete at the 0.375-mile oval, “Rowdy” fans attending this year’s SpeedFest will have the chance to purchase a VIP ticket that includes a meet and greet with Busch.
“As I compete in these Super Late Model races at different tracks around the country it’s been cool to get to meet members of Rowdy Nation that might not be able to get to a NASCAR race, so we’re going to be holding one of our Rowdy Roundups before the race on Saturday,” Busch explained.
Tickets for the “Rowdy Roundup,” which will take place from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday in the Fan Zone, can be purchased for $125 and entitle each fan to getting two items autographed, a picture taken with Busch with their own device and admission into the general setting area for the race.
The “Rowdy Roundup” ticket can be purchased at RowdyBusch.com or at the Crisp Motorsports Park ticket office.
